Windows Vista: Does it Need AntiVirus Software?

DIGG: During a telephone conference with reporters yesterday, outgoing Microsoft co-president Jim Allchin told a reporter that the system’s new lockdown features are so capable and thorough that he was comfortable with his own seven-year-old son using Windows Vista without antivirus software installed.

Well of course this is yet another comment taken out of context! Jim Allchin clarifies his position on the Windows Vista blog.
JIM’S BOTTOM LINE: "I want to be clear, most users will use some form of antivirus software, and that will be appropriate for their scenarios. In fact, Windows Security Center, a great feature in Windows Vista, specifically encourages the use of antivirus software."
