How to Opt-out of Google Analytics in Internet Explorer

 
Google recently released their Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on enablings consumers to “indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics.”
 
However, you can accomplish the same thing without installing a Browser Helper Object and the Google Update Service!  (Thanks Eric)
How to prevent Google Analytics’ script from running in Internet Explorer 7, 8 & 9:
  1. In Internet Explorer, open the Tools  menu and click Internet Options
  2. Click the Security tab and then click the Restricted Sites icon
  3. Click the Sites button
  4. In the box at the top, add *.google-analytics.com and push the Add button
  5. Click the Close button, and then the OK
