Microsoft Research Releases “Collage” Presentation Tool for Teachers

Collage is a presentation tool designed to support classroom instruction in K-12 classrooms. The tool is essentially an advanced media viewer that facilitates display of digitized textbook materials and multimedia while also providing simple yet powerful ways to interact with such content. Collage has been developed at Microsoft Research India and has been tested in four schools in rural and semi-urban India.

For example, an English teacher teaching a chapter called “Banyan Tree” can show pages from the text and in between the pages s/he can present images and videos of a real banyan tree.  A Science teacher, while teaching a chapter called “The Planetary System,” can show pages from the textbook chapter on the topic and can subsequently show pictures and videos of different planets alongside.
