New “Origami” Microsoft Handheld Computer

Microsoft has a new secret project called ”Origami,” but the website reveals little details except:

  • Hello
  • Do you know me?
  • Do you know what I can do?
  • . . . and where I can go?
  • . . . or how I can change your life?
  • Learn more on 3.2.06

Microsoft’s Origami Project was first mentioned at Comdex 2001 – and this mysterious product appears to be a competitor to Apple’s iPod.

A translation of Microsoft’s Japan’s website yields some more clues:

"wireless video communication, telephone and digital camera, video camcorder, MP3 audio, PDA, Internet access, email, and the progressive conceptual device which integrates the Microsoft Windows Embedded XP Embedded operating system to individual folding design"

Of course Engadget has the scoop on Microsoft’s new Portable device (along with pictures) – and now the marketing company Digital Kitchen has the Microsoft commercial posted.
